Our Islamic services are designed for specific needs of the community, they provide traditional Islamic practices that are rare or very difficult to find.
Below are services that we provide currently:
Ramadan
The Holy month of Ramadan is a special month for Muslims around the globe. During this month we abstain from worldly desires, including the consumption of any food or drinks from dawn, when the Fajr prayer enters until sunset when the Maghrib prayer enters.
Each year AMSSA hosts hundreds of Muslims at the Centre every day and provides free community Iftar to ensure all those observing Ramadan have the opportunity to break their fast with freshly prepared food.
The Centre also facilitates the Tarawih prayers, our amazing Qaris complete reading the entire Qur’an over the course of Ramadan.
Eid Prayers
Eid al-Fitr is the celebration that concludes the Holy Month of Ramadan and is starts/commences by the visual sighting of the crescent.
While Eid al-Adha is the second Eid celebration in the Islamic calendar. It is considered as the larger and more sacred of the two Eid’s, as it honours the servitude and obedience of Prophet Abraham, may Peace and Blessing be upon him, – when he was commanded to sacrifice his own son. His unwavering obedience was rewarded when God provided a ram to be sacrificed instead of his son.
AMSSA hosts the Eid Prayers at Dabney’s Park Flemington, we celebrate the breaking of the month of fasting during Ramadan. On average over 3,000 worshippers attend the Eid prayers at the park.
During this time, we partner and work with local council and Victoria Police to help facilitate a safe environment for Eid prayer and accommodate the growing numbers each year.
In case of a severe weather, the Eid prayers are held at the AMSSA Centre which can accommodate over 2,500 people at once.
